Morto nesta sexta-feira (5) aos 92 anos, Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo foi o primeiro da história a conquistar o título da Copa do Mundo tanto como jogador quanto como técnico.
Ponta-esquerda, o “Velho Lobo” foi titular nos Mundiais de 1958 e 1962, os primeiros da Seleção Brasileira. Na Suécia, marcou um dos gols do Brasil na decisão contra os donos da casa, que terminou em goleada de 5 a 2 para os comandados de Vicente Feola.
Depois de conquistar o bicampeonato como atleta, Zagallo voltou a erguer a taça de campeão do mundo em 1970, desta vez como treinador.
No México, sua equipe encantou o mundo e terminou a campanha do tri com seis vitórias em seis partidas, com 19 gols marcados e sete sofridos.
Campeão como jogador e técnico, Zagallo foi igualado apenas por outros dois personagens na história do futebol.
O alemão Franz Beckenbauer, que conquistou o título como capitão da Alemanha em 1974, foi o treinador da seleção alemã no título de 1990.
O terceiro a conquistar o título da Copa do Mundo nas duas funções foi o francês Didier Deschamps, campeão como jogador em 1998 e depois como técnico em 2018.
